I have been working with Ibiza Rocks since its infancy for the first few years not only on the media side but also in the position of artist liaison.
Working on Ibiza Rocks Radio has given me a great platform to interview some fantastic bands, artists and DJs, it not only provided a fantastic outlet for my passion for radio, but has proved that the sound of Ibiza is changing and there is room, and want, for more alternative music, much like 6music.
I pride myself to be considered an ambassador for rock and roll and alternative music in Ibiza, each week showcasing new talent, exploring the background all the acts we had over to play, documenting each event, and revealing all the behind the scenes goings on.
Interviews with the artists were either on location at the Ibiza Rocks hotel, bar or beach, or bringing them into the studio, making sure each piece had elements of light heartedness and fun whilst being informative, engaging and revealing.
I am hugely passionate about radio, DJing and all kinds of music. When I DJ I mostly love to play old rock and roll classics, forgotten gems, indie anthems, reggae, sca, punk and have been known to throw in the odd dance classic or electro remix.
2009/2010 has also been the making of my debut project 'I'm with the Band', a music documentary pilot of which I created, produced and presented. The pilot was with The Mystery Jets as I accompanied them on last leg of their tour with The Kooks, taking on the honouree role of ‘5th member’ of the group. I am also currently developing other show treatments that still lie within the music documentary genre, including a history and culture of festivals series, ‘I’m back with the band’, the story of the reformation and Almost Famous.
Another string to my bow is that I have recently set up a management company with Harriet Roberts from Warner Music, but more on that later. I constantly scout for new bands and am passionate about giving them a platform to showcase their work. Also having booking experience, including for Warner, some of these bands have gone on to play Ibiza Rocks, various gigs and festivals in the UK, and participated in both my radio and television projects. I was thrilled to hear that Steve Lamacq played and brought into the studio Boy Mandeville, a group I’ve been mentoring for a while now. I have championed them since the band formed and I am delighted that they are being recognised for the new talent that they are.
I decided I should start a blog to showcase some of my work and going's on... So here goes and I hope you like!
